How do we include? How do we include even those that would exclude? -Reconciliation Podcast
What is Mediation? This question is an important one in my life at this time for 2 reasons.
For 1) we have been building a conflict resolution app for the last 4 years and have dedicated our all to it. Researching mediation is part of my job.
and for 2) It is clear when we look out upon the world that conflict is at an all time high. I like to say that the conflict has just been made noticeable, but its always been there. And when we can see it, is when we can ask for it to change. The only way to shift out of this conflict, is to transform it into peace. Mediation is a tool of humans and now of computer software, too, to help transform conflict into peaceful resolutions and agreements. It acts as an unbiased mediator helping its users to shift out of conflicting ideas and conflicted relationships. So clearly, having an app to communicate effectively to reach agreements is a desirable outcome. So I have taken it upon myself to follow the little inner prompt to share some of the wisdom I have learned about mediation: the process towards communication, cooperation and peace.
So what is Mediation? According to Webster Dictionary it means:

So what is Mediation? According to Webster Dictionary it means:
MEDIATION \mee-dee-ey-shuh n\
- An attempt to bring about a peaceful resolution between disputants through the objective intervention of a neutral party.
Moving from conflict to reconciliation is the goal of mediation. The best way to go about this to begin by being willing to be open to understand the others position. This shifts the goal from a attack or winning mentality, to that of attacking the problem together in pursuit of a win-win resolution. This would be a new desirable goal, because everyone in turn would begin to understand where the other is coming from, changes of mind occur, agreements ensue and goals are reached.
In seeing that both parties involved in the conflict equally deserve empathy and resolution, is a way to bring about the steps towards reaching a peaceful resolution.
A mediator is a facilitator that helps its participants to reach this goal. Their main function is to ask great questions that stimulate communication and uncovering the blocks to agreement. They are a neutral impartial third party with the goal of peace and agreement in mind. Mediators are becoming more and more known. They are seen as helpful to resolving conflict and that is the very thing that is needed globally at this time.
The current mediators in our world are needing help within their own practices to help those who are calling to resolve their conflict. The conflict is on such a grand scale that the mediators need to work together, and new ways of communicating needs to be had. This is where having a software mediator to assist both human mediators and the users of the program to reach the goal of agreement, resolution, decision making and peace is not only important but almost necessary at this time.
An app for conflict resolution is finally being made available. It is all inclusive for any need great or small. It is a platform to express oneself freely and completely without being interrupted or having to repeat oneself. It keeps track of everything that was said and has 18 different tools to use to help to enhance the communication and reaching of the goals. Its genius, its helpful and its here.
